The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority.

Last night, a home was broken into on the west side of the district. The homeowner was shot and the shooter has not been caught. There is no current threat to our students as this happened several miles away from our schools. However, we are taking extra precautions to make sure our students are safe. Classes will remain in session, but we are restricting movement throughout the district. No students will be let outside during the school day. All of our doors will remain locked and any visitors will have to be buzzed in as usual. We will provide you with any updates as needed.

Again, the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority.

Thank you to our residents for voting on Nov. 7 to pass the renewal levy! The renewal, which is not a new tax, will allow the district to maintain current levels of programs, services and staff.

While not a new tax, we will use the funds generated by the renewal levy to maintain class sizes, as well as resources for students with developmental disabilities, STEM and vocational classes, and extracurricular and extra academic programming. The dollars will also be put toward maintaining the district’s buildings, upgrading safety and security systems and allowing community use of the facilities after school hours.

At Black River, our goal is to provide our students with an excellent education while being fiscally responsible and transparent. With the passage of the renewal, we will be able to maintain financial stability and a high-quality education for our students.

Thank you again for your support of our district and students!

Black River has a renewal levy on the ballot. THIS IS NOT A NEW TAX and supports important student services, extracurricular opportunities, academic programming, and building maintenance and security. This levy is critical for the district to maintain current programming, services and staff in order to provide our students with an excellent education.

Again, this IS NOT A NEW TAX.
