The annual 5th Grade Science Fair at Black River Intermediate School was held on Thursday evening, May 10, in the cafeteria. Students began preparing their projects in January with the guidance of their science teacher, Mrs. Wightman. The top winners were revealed at the start of the evening. First Place went to Brennan Scheck for his experiment, " A Nutty Case". Elizabeth Kanzeg earned Second Place for "Fat? What Fat?". Third Place honors went to Kevin Denington for "How to Measure the Strength of a Magnet". Hailey Parks won Fourth
Place with her "Incredible Insulators" experiment. Fifth Place was shared by Will Beard, "Power of the Bulb", and Madeline Sommerville, "What Would a Worm Eat?". Fourteen students earned Honorable Mentions.
