Power Diagnostics

On March 3, the Black River FFA chapter was represented by Cooper Sprinkle and Eric Cordonnier at the State Agricultural Power Diagnostics Career Development Event at the University of Northwestern in Lima.

The Agricultural Power Diagnostics CDE teaches students to recognize and correct malfunctions on gasoline or diesel tractors, combines, and miscellaneous industrial equipment. The contest consisted of five tractors that were specifically “bugged.” While demonstrating safety practices, the students had to identify and correct the malfunctions and properly start the piece of equipment within a 20-minute time frame. In addition, prior to the event, students completed a rigorous online knowledge test.

For both students it was their first-year participating in the event. Sprinkle and Cordonnier earned an honorable 12th place finish out of 105 teams. In addition, the boys, both tied for 24th place individual out of 615 participants. We would like to thank Polen Implement, Krystowski Tractor, Wellington Implement and North Central Ag for helping to prepare the team.
