Parlimentary Procedure

On November 21, the Black River FFA participated in the sub-district Parliamentary Procedure Career Development Event at Triway High School. The Parliamentary Procedure competition is an assessment of a student’s ability to participate effectively in a business meeting or other group decision making situations. The team performs in a FFA mock-type meeting for a panel of judges. In addition, each member must also complete a written evaluation containing questions that test their knowledge on the rules of parliamentary procedure.

This year’s senior team was led Parliamentary President, Cori Aviles; Secretary, Hannah Abfall; Members, Cassidy Mrakuzic; Mya Kunsman; Katlyn Kubitz; Anna Shearer, and alternates Shay Ladina and Hayley Rickey. This year’s Junior Team included President, Alexa Shearer; Vice President, Molly Cordonnier; Secretary, Chloee Howard; Sentinel, Kaitlyn Long; Reporter, Amanda Mycek; Member, Joe Mennell and alternate Kiersten Hendershot.

The senior team earned a commendable third place finish and gold rating and the junior team earned a second place finish and gold rating at the sub-district competition. The teams were commended for their hard work as the judges said this was the closest competition at the sub district that they had ever seen. This was quite an accomplishment as this was the first time competing in the event for most of the members.

The members would like to thank the Black River Superintendent, Chris Clark for his assistance in helping to prepare the team. Good luck as both teams earned the opportunity to advance to the District competition.
