Hog Roast

On September 28, the Black River FFA Chapter experienced another record breaking year as members and guests gathered at their annual FFA Fall Hog Roast to share a delicious meal and celebrate the harvest season. The cookout was held in the agricultural education shop where over 170 members and guests enjoyed an evening of good food, great conversation, and a presentation by the chapter officers.

After dinner, the chapter officers took the opportunity to inform parents and members about this year’s events and activities available to the members as well as reviewed the FFA and classroom expectations and requirements. In addition, last year’s slideshow was presented to give everyone an idea about the forthcoming events and recap last year’s accomplishments. Before wrapping up the evening’s presentation, the winners of the Largest Harvest and the newly elected Jr. Officers were also announced.

The FFA Chapter would like to thank the Canfield family for providing the roaster and preparing the hams, and T.L Keller Meats for helping to provide such a great product. We would also like to thank Daniel Gorey for donating the pumpkins that were used to decorate and will be utilized at the Black River Farm Games for the pumpkin carving contest.
